How is the score calculated?
ByNiche tracks videos from thousands of channels every day. Videos that reach at least 3× their channel’s usual views count as breakouts; the rest are ordinary. For every title pattern (numbers, questions, money, curiosity gaps, comparisons…) we measure how much more often it appears in breakout titles than in ordinary ones.
Patterns that are common in breakouts raise your score; patterns that are rare in breakouts lower it. Length counts too: titles of 30 to 70 characters show in full in search and suggestions.
Does a high score guarantee views?
No. The title is one of two things, with the thumbnail, that decide the click; views are carried by the topic, the thumbnail and how well the video holds viewers. This tool shows how close your title is to breakout titles. Don’t use patterns blindly, and always deliver what the title promises.
4 rules for a better YouTube title
Lead with the promise: viewers read the first 40 characters. Be concrete: “$10,000” beats “a lot of money”, “30 days” beats “a long time”. Leave a curiosity gap but don’t lie: hint at the result without giving all of it away. Don’t repeat the thumbnail: the thumbnail text should complete the title, not copy it.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a YouTube title be?
YouTube allows up to 100 characters, but phones usually cut titles after 40 to 60. Between 30 and 70 characters is the best balance in most cases; put the most important words first.
Do numbers in titles work?
In most niches, yes. List and number titles say clearly what you’ll get, so they show up often in breakout videos. The tool shows the current rate for your language.
Does clickbait hurt a channel?
If the video doesn’t deliver the promise, viewers leave early; YouTube notices and recommends the video less. Spark curiosity, then deliver.
What data is this based on?
Long-form videos from the last 90 days on the English, German, French, Spanish and Turkish channels ByNiche tracks. Rates update daily; if there isn’t enough data for your language, all languages are used together.
